Travel complaint, airline complaint- a necessity at times

The aviation sector is grappling with service related issues since privatization policy came into force. The policy permitted many private airlines to enter this sector and the competition is increasing by the day. In their endeavor to compete with other players in the market, the airlines are slashing down prices, offering various discounts and schemes to lure more and more passengers. 

But this is negatively affecting the bottom line of their balance sheets and in order to compensate they are deteriorating the services offered by them. Daily issues like loss of baggage, misplacing of baggage, baggage mishandling, stale food being served on board, duplicate allocation of seats, flight cancellation without prior notice and many other factors are coming to light.

The reputation and image of the airlines is also being affected due to such negative incidents. This is the reason; many airline companies have established a grievance cell and their aim is to redress the issues constantly coming up in the form of airline complaint from passengers. There is no doubt that the standard of the services offered to the passengers have undergone a radical change and the quality is constantly deteriorating. The passengers who are paying hefty amounts get irked when they do not receive bare minimum services as well. On top of it issues like baggage mishandling, loss of baggage, foul food being served, seats being booked twice, flight cancellations without prior notice, etc fill the passengers with anger and they have to take a strict action like lodging travel complaints

There are special forms available with the grievance cell as well as online, where passengers can enumerate their complaints. As soon as these complaints are received by the airline authorities, they investigate the entire method on their own and take suitable action for the same. In case the airline staff is really at fault, the onus lies with airline authorities to take an action against them so that the passengers are satisfied and an amicable solution is found out. If the issue is major and it needs lot of investigation and the amount of compensation demanded is quite big, it becomes necessary for both the parties to seek lawyers’ advice. 

The airline companies are given notice in some instances and a proper compensation is demanded in cases when passengers have suffered with major financial loss and mental stress. 

Many times we have seen that flights are delayed without any reason and as a result of which the passengers have to bear financial loss, mental stress, unable to keep their appointments, are not able to travel on connecting flights and so on. These factors require quick redressel of the matters. It is significant to quickly take a suitable decision on such factors and not let them escalate to huge proportions. 

Major issues like falling sick on eating stale food on board or getting injured during flight is a major issue for which compensation is generally demanded by the passengers. Such cases are generally settled in courts. Thus airline complaints must be taken seriously.
